Epipremnums in general

The genus Epipremnum contains several iconic vines. The vines climb with the aid of aerial roots on surface of trees. These can look anywhere from small bumps on the opposite side of the leaf node to long aerial roots hanging all the way down. The best know Epipremnum is the iconic Epipremnum aureum, the golden pothos, favoured for its ease of care, rapid growth and striking leaves. Variegation ranging from white to a golden yellow can be found in different species of Epipremnum. Some species like the Epipremnum pinnatum will grow fenestrated leaves when mature even indoors.

Epipremnum will benefit from growing upwards on a support, by using a moss pole and spraying it regularly the aerial roots will fasten into the moist medium. By providing the aerial roots with moisture you will improve the metabolism of the plant. All members of the genus will also look great placed in a hanger pot.

All parts of the Epipremnum are toxic. In practice this means to avoid the plant sap when pruning the plant and taking care your pets will not consume any parts of the plant. Plant sap may cause irritation on skin if left in contact.
